SINGÜLAR

In the hush of a concert hall in southern Luxembourg, three musicians — Pascal Schumacher, Sebastian Studnitzky, and Edward Perraud — met for the first time. What followed was not a session, but an awakening,  says Pascal Schumacher. Singülar’s debut album captures that moment: a raw, electric, unrepeatable exchange between three kindred spirits, united by a single pulse. It’s the sound of a first meeting, spontaneous and deeply connected, where jazz melts into ambient textures, pulse, and space.

This spirit of this album feels like a modern reimagining of Miles Davis’s Bitches Brew — but for our time. The same fearless exploration, the same embrace of the unknown, but translated through the trio’s distinct voices. With a blend of jazz, cosmic, and electronic elements, the album stretches the boundaries of sound, creating a swirling, uncharted sonic landscape. It’s a fusion of pulse and chaos, an ever-shifting journey into the unknown, where every moment is alive with possibility.

As Sebastian Studnitzky puts it, It’s not just about playing music; it’s about feeling the moment together. The music is a reflection of that shared experience, raw and unpolished, yet full of life and meaning.

In the trio’s music, each note feels like it’s been waiting to be heard. Liaima the album's heart, pulses with the essence of Singülar: a bold, intuitive journey through texture and rhythm. Here, structure dissolves, and sound becomes sensation, weaving synths, vibraphone, trumpet, drums, and electronics into a hypnotic flow. It’s a piece born from trust and spontaneity, capturing the magic of a moment that cannot be replicated.

Meanwhile, tracks like La Fin d’un Monde invite us to witness a quiet farewell to the old world—a melancholic yet luminous ballad that hovers between endings and new beginnings. It’s a meditation on transition, a sonic passage from one world to the next. As Edward Perraud reflects, The end of one world isn’t the end of the world; it’s the beginning of a new era.
