Omer Klein’s new Sextet, The Poetics, is an exhilarating musical unit exploring multiple creative facets of this fascinating pianist/composer. A group of fearless, masterful musicians are joined in a colorful amalgam, in which his celebrated trio is magnified by percussion and wind instruments. Klein’s new book of compositions for the Poetics is full of his signature infectious grooves, memorable melodies and adventurous harmonies, coupled here with a new sense of arrangement and orchestration. The love for the musical worlds of Brazil and Africa are especially prevalent in the Poetics universe.

The music of pianist and composer Omer Klein is widely described as “borderless” (New York Times), continuously pushing mainstream jazz concepts into the future. A prolific performer and composer, he has released ten albums under his own name and performed as a soloist and bandleader at major international festivals and concert halls including the Berlin Philharmonic, Elbphilharmonie, Jazz at Lincoln Center, North Sea Jazz Festival, and the Vienna Konzerthaus. Since founding the Omer Klein Trio in 2013, the ensemble has toured extensively and released multiple critically acclaimed recordings, including the ECHO Award–winning Sleepwalkers (2017) and the genre-expanding Radio Mediteran (2019). Alongside his trio work, Klein has developed a diverse output ranging from solo piano to large-scale orchestral and collaborative projects.

In recent years, Klein has expanded his artistic scope with acclaimed stage music, symphonic projects, big band collaborations, and cross-genre partnerships, while remaining a central figure in the European and Israeli jazz scenes. Born in Israel in 1982 and raised in Netanya, he studied in the U.S. before settling in Germany in 2009. His music reflects his multicultural background and strong Israeli roots. In the 2024/2025 season, Klein served as Artist in Residence at the Alte Oper Frankfurt, where he presented his new sextet, Omer Klein & The Poetics, to enthusiastic public and critical response.

In March 2026 Omer Klein will release his album "The Poetics” at XJAZZ! Music and present his new sextet on tour, culminating with a concert in the main hall of the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.
