BENEDIKT REISING
ECHOES OF MARABI
ALBUM OUT ON 26.09.2025

”Echoes of Marabi” is a powerful collaboration between South African pianist Yonela Mnana and Swiss saxophonist Benedikt Reising. Rooted in friendship and shared history, the album blends soulful improvisation, deep harmonies from the Soultee Sisters, and echoes of Marabi music. It’s a moving tribute to South Africa’s musical heritage—filled with struggle, hope, and the enduring spirit of Ubuntu.
The first single “Tar Road” is a heartfelt tribute by Yonela Mnana to his students walking daily from surrounding areas to Ezibeleni High School in Katlehong. The track captures the journey as a pilgrimage—where music becomes a path to self-discovery, resilience, and hope amid challenges. A soulful blend of gratitude and determination, it reflects the power of music to nurture identity and humanity.

South African pianist Yonela Mnana and Swiss saxophonist Benedikt Reising first met in 2018 through The Mill, a Swiss-SA jazz project. Their bond grew during a 2019 tour in Europe. Both are rooted in deep musical traditions and have built international reputations through collaboration and improvisation. Echoes of Marabi reflects their long-standing connection and the ongoing musical exchange between South Africa and Switzerland.
