ANNA MARGOLINA
/
SONG OF A GIRL
ALBUM OUT IN JUNE 2026
In her new studio album "Song Of A Girl" Anna Margolina turns poetry into music. She has rediscovered the compelling work of writer Anna Margolin (1887-1952) with whom she not only shares her name, but also the country of origin. The result embodies a broad, melodic and contemporary view on jazz, embracing elements of folk, soul and electronic. The program is presented with a strong collective of well-known and versatile musicians: Arseny Rykov - piano, Martin Krümmling - drums and backing vocals, Paul Kleber - double bass, backing vocals, composition and production.
Born into a musical family in Minsk, she lived there until the age of 8. In 1992 her mother set out on a journey of no return to Berlin, changing the course of fate dramatically. For many years the singer struggled to adapt to the mentalities surrounding her, finding it difficult to feel true connection. She defines this search as the center of her musical career. Telling her story to the public is opening up a much broader perspective, than that of a typical biography.
The debut album “One Endless Night” (2023, XJAZZ!Music) by jazz singer Anna Margolina is a personal remembrance of her immigration from Minsk to Berlin. After 30 years since her arrival, the record shares experiences of abandonment and loneliness, the search for new identity and a sense of belonging.
"Though not without its somber moments, One Endless Night presents a balanced, primarily positive exploration of Margolina’s immigration experience. Its thematic strength, combined with compelling vocal performance and the accompanying musicians’ skilled improvisation, make it an album worth experiencing."
